![]() Friday, May 10, 2002 -- just an entry Well, lets see... At her last doctor's appointment at 12 weeks she weighed 14lbs, 11.5oz and was 24.75in long. 95th percentile on weight, 85th on height. Now, at 15 weeks, the clothes that fit her are a wide range of sizes. One 0-3 months long sleeve shirt still makes it, which is very good since it refuses to get warm here! 3-6 months shirts still work, as well as her Carter's stretchies and rompers. Everything else needs to be 6 months, 6-9 months, or even 6-12 months. And she will only be wearing rompers or overalls until she is out of diapers since pulling elastic waist pants on and off her 8 times a day is a royal pain in the butt! She's very alert and aware and interested in the world. She has a big smile for everyone. Her favorite thing in the world though is too look at the LED wand clock that Pete's Dad gave us last year. Although, her soft octopus (which is really a pentapus) rattle is quickly gaining in popularity now that she's really good at grabbing and holding things (and putting them in her mouth to gnaw on). Nursing has gotten much, much easier, but we have some new issues. Around 3 months nursing strikes are common, especially if you have a very strong MER (milk ejection reflex),which I do. She'll get mad that the milk doesn't come out immediately and then she'll get mad because too much is coming out too fast. Then I have to be quick with the burp cloth while I spray milk all over the place until it slows down to a trickle. Then she'll latch on happily. So it takes about 2-3 minutes of screaming and sucking until she can settle into nursing sometimes. The other problem is that I have to compete with her thumb. Even though I try to explain to her that her thumb doesn't have any milk, she still seems to like it better when I try to nurse her. At first this annoyed me greatly, but now it's actually a good thing because it helps with the above problem. She only sucks her left thumb. So when I nurse on the left side, I have to compete with her thumb, but it keeps her from screaming while waiting for my milk to let down. I just have to keep taking out the thumb, putting in the boob, taking out the thumb, putting in the boob, until she's ready. On the right side, her left arm is pinned under my right arm so she can't get at her thumb. So now I give her my finger to suck on a little until everything is as she wants it. But I still think it's easier than dealing with mixing formula and bottles. And I'm still amazed that my body makes milk, lots of milk, almost 40oz a day of milk. I pump at night and I'm just in awe as 4 or 5 ounces of milk just pour out of me. Its soooo cool. And I love the milky smiles I get as she falls asleep at my breast. :)
On the cat front... Boo's back!!!! She finally decided that getting some attention was more important than being jealous and that I wasn't going to abandon Dagny in favor of her. So our bed is getting very crowded. From left to right there's Pete, Dagny, me, and then Boo. Sometimes Radley will sleep at the foot of the bed, but most of the times she sleeps under the bed. Once again, I'm surrounded on both sides and can't get out of bed without disturbing someone. But, I have purring in one ear and little Dagny sleep noises in the other. :)
I just have to say that I can't believe the Angels are beating the Sox 16-0 in the 6th inning. How pathetic! More pics...
