Saturday, February 16, 2002 -- Another quick entry

Sorry all! We're still here, just busy and sleep deprived. It could be worse, Dagny's actually really good and lets us sleep for 3-4 hours at a time!

Nursing is going pretty well. At one week she had gained back her birth weight plus .6oz. At two weeks she had gained over a pound, from 7lbs, 14oz to 9lbs, 4oz!!!! She still has trouble latching on if she's tired and/or not very hungry or too hungry. At night she has the annoying habit of nursing for 10 minutes or so and then falling asleep. So I wait to see if she's going to wake back up and then I put her back in the Snuggle Nest (www.inventiveparent.com/snugglenest.htm) and then she wakes back up in about 5-10 minutes wanting more. So while Pete gets up for 5 minutes to change her diaper, I'm usually up for an hour or more for each nursing session.

She is a really good, laid back baby. She doesn't cry unless you are changing her diaper when she's really hungry or she's having trouble latching on. She's usually either nursing or sleeping. Maybe an hour a day she's just awake and looking around and testing out her face, etc...

She's been smiling alot these last couple of days. And she's been looking at us like she actually sees us! She started grabbing at Pete's beard and my necklace. I have to clip her nails every day since she's been blessed with my nails and they grow like weeds and are sharp as razor blades!

Who does she look like???? Well, many of her features are definitely from me. She has my ears, hands, nails, feet, mouth, and most likely my eyecolor. But, she looks like Pete or at least members of Pete's family. Today, Pete made a face of some sort and I totally saw Dagny's face in him.
