![]() Saturday, January 19, 2002 -- Chiropractor + Labor Tub = Heaven!!! Okay, I think the way I've been feeling the last 2 weeks may have less to do with being 9 months pregnant and more to do with being 9 months pregnant and not going to the chiropractor in over 2 weeks. First there was a scheduling problem, then he got sick, so it turned out to be over 2 weeks before I could get back to see him. Silly, silly, pregger woman!!!! After my adjustment on Friday I felt instant relief!!! I could walk almost normally. I could stand for more than a few minutes at a time - long enough to take a decent shower!!! I could walk up and down stairs and just be out of breath instead of also being in agonizing pain. It was amazing! I feel almost human! I just never realized how much the chiropractor was helping. I'm not very in tune with my body. I don't take OTC drugs generally because I never feel the effects, or I just don't notice. Pete takes one Tums and instantly feels a difference. He's like that with most drugs - he can tell they are doing something. I usually can't, so I don't bother. I'm just clueless. Anyway, I kept going to the chiropractor throughout my pregnancy mainly because I'd been told it was a good idea. I also seemed to be suffering much less than most other preggo's and figured that maybe the chiropractor had something to do with it. So when I did finally get really miserable, I just thought that it was normal for this stage of the game. But now I know better!!!!! I think I may go twice a week until the baby comes!!! Then I'm going to keep going for the rest of my life. If you've never gone, I highly recommend checking one out!!!!!
So this weekend is our official "Get Ready for Baby Weekend." I got 90% of the laundry done today. I have a couple more supplies to get tomorrow and some more straightening to do on the house. Pete got the bathroom to the point where we can have our bedroom back. But the best thing we did is...... a test run of the labor tub!!! It took Pete about a half hour to set up the tub, then it took us about 2 hours to fill it since we had to wait on the hot water heater, but then we tried it out.... It was wonderful! Nothing hurt. I could move around with ease. It was not too hot, not too cold. I was in heaven! Pete got in with me and we spent about 45 minutes in there. I can tell that laboring in there is going to be a very good thing!!!!! And squatting for delivery will be very easy in 20 inches of water - no stress, no strain, full support leaning either against Pete or the side of the tub.
Of course, boo wanted to help with the hose....
As for my doctor's appointment... I did let her do the internal. It didn't hurt, but was basically uncomfortable, just like they all are. My cervix is soft and maybe a pinky fingertip dilated. The baby's head is really low, but can still be pushed away. All in all she said it was pretty good progress for how far along I was and the fact that I hadn't felt a single contraction. So things are getting ready to start happening at some point. Yay. Since then it appears that the baby has dropped. I think it happened right after I saw the chiropractor - yet another bonus!!!! So sitting on my birth ball and doing some squats should help the baby's head apply pressure to my cervix and get things going. I'm also taking Evening Primose Oil to help soften the cervix and drinking 2-3 cups of Red Raspberry Leaf tea a day to get my uterus contracting some. We'll see what happens!!! I am due on a full moon!
As for the bathroom.... Pete wanted me to post this pic of the new copper horn that the City of Naperville made us install to upgrade our water service line from 5/8" to 1". It took him most of a night to do it. During this time the water was shut off and would remain so until the new water meter was installed the next morning. We had filled the bathtub with water to use to manually flush the toilet. The guy that came the next day to install the meter was very impressed that he chose to do it himself and that he did a pretty good job of it. Apparently, folks in Naperville would never attempt to do such a thing themselves.
