![]() Sunday, December 9, 2001 -- We bought out Babies 'R' Us! Wow! Well, now the baby can come, it has STUFF. Most of the stuff we got the Attachment/Natural Parenting communities consider to be unnecessary, but most of the real life parents we encounter consider them necessities. We aren't setting up a separate nursery. We have an alcove in our bedroom, we're going to use, so no matter what, the baby will be in our room. It'll probably sleep with us for at least a few months. The most expensive thing we bought was a glider and ottoman. I think I'm going to sleep in it for the next 7 weeks - finally I can give my hips a rest! Then it will be a most comfy place for nursing and story reading and cuddling. We also bought a crib, bedding, changing table, stroller, car seat, pack 'n play, and a swing. And a breast pump, baby monitor, hooded towels, wash cloths, receiving blankets, and stretchies for the babykins to wear. There's still plenty of smaller stuff that we didn't get. Some friends here are throwing me a small shower after the baby is born. We made sure to get the big stuff and anything we'd need in the first week or two. Most of the clothes will also have to wait since almost everything is very "girly" or "boyish". Mucho thanks to my mom for her significant help! This stuff ain't cheap! Of course, Boo and Radley had to "test" all of the new stuff. They particularly like the crib. I managed to cover all the bedding before they could get cat hair all over it, although, it all needs to be washed anyway. Once I get cute pics of them "testing" the stuff, I'll put a layer of aluminum foil in everything to discourage them. I think putting all the baby stuff together finally made this very real for Pete. In 7-9 weeks we are going to have a BABY!!!!!!!! Putting the stuff together was very frustrating. I can see that I'm going to learn to hate snaps. Everything has snaps. And, we had almost finished putting the stoller together when we realized the handle was broken. We took it back and got a new one. They were very nice about it. Everything else went together eventually.
Now we have cute little baby stuff! *giggle*
