![]() Wednesday, November 14, 2001 -- Back from Arizona I figure I'll keep adding entries even though the blog isn't public yet. Anyway, we're back from beautiful, sunny, warm, Tucson! Highs were in the mid 80's and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It was one of our best vacations ever! We are definitely getting better at this. We stayed at a very nice Hampton Inn and Suites - they have a really nice, free, breakfast buffet thing every morning. We went bowling, saw a movie, toured an open pit copper mine, toured the last remaining Titan II missle silo and complex, and got up close and personal with some humming birds, and many other creatures, at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. We also slept, alot. And I swam, in my ridiculous looking materninty suit, in some very nice outdoor heated pools. The only problem was, we planned the trip about one week too late. (Not that we could help it, Pete's conference was when the conference was - nothing we could do about that.) This was the week I finally started to feel "pregnant". - The "furnace" thing finally kicked in. For the first time in my life, I spent the duration of a flight wearing nothing heavier than a tee-shirt and khakis. Usually it's a t-shirt + sweater/sweatshirt + jacket + blanket, and I'm still freezing to death. The only time I was mildly chilly was on the jetway in Denver - I mean they were de-icing planes out there! At night, at the hotel, I had to have the air on. Pete slept under all available coverings, while I slept naked, occasionally covered by the sheet. Now I know why people say to avoid having summer babies! - My belly is big. It's getting hard to move around. I seem to forget and I change positions too quickly and I end up pulling something. Luckily, it doesn't take long for things to get un-pulled. - I need to pee alot! I think I hit all 6 restrooms at the desert museum, a couple twice! They were all very nice and clean. I think I used the bathroom everywhere we went! I was re-inspired to think about starting to keep track of the restrooms of America. I envision an online guide rating restrooms at highway rest-stops and restaurants, major tourist attractions and airports/train stations, etc... - I know they let you fly until you are 34 - 36 weeks, but at 28/29 weeks, it was fairly uncomfortable, at least in coach. I blew 20K miles to upgrade myself to business/first class on the longer Chicago-Denver legs of the trip. (Business class on a 777 is really nice!!! First class on a 777 looked utterly ridiculous!) But on the Denver-Tucson legs I was quite miserable. The more I move around, the happier my hips are. The less I move around, no matter what position I'm in, my hips and butt are not fun to have attached to my body. I'm definitely not getting on another plane for quite a while! It doesn't matter though, I'm really glad I went! We needed it and we thoroughly enjoyed it! I'll have pics up when I get the film developed! (No, we don't own a digital camera yet! - Sue me!)
